About me

I run a niche consultancy business, pwcom2.0, focused on PR, marketing and social media for the construction industry, reflecting 20 years work in AEC marcoms and more than ten years involvement with collaborative ICT (some of which is today termed Web 2.0 or social media).

I worked for BIW Technologies, one of the UK's leading providers of SaaS-based construction collaboration technologies (AKA 'project extranets') from 2000-2009 (before that, I ran the first iteration of my own PR and marketing business, following 11 years with the Halcrow group and Tarmac Professional Services).

I wrote the UK's first guide to these technologies, published in 2005, and have been involved in various IT related initiatives by, among others, the Network of Construction Collaboration Technology Providers and Constructing Excellence.

With three others, I was also one of the co-organisers of Be2camp - a growing online network that I continue to manage today and which I am pleased to link to the AEC Network.

I also write about AEC technologies, particularly in Software-as-a-Service, on my blog at www.extranetevolution.com. More recently, I started a new PR/marketing/Web2.0/AEC blog, as part of a new website to support pwcom2.0.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for joining the AEC Network. I would like to have a chat about how we can help be2camp and vice versa - I may be in London on Monday, are you around?

Best regards

John

I would welcome any comments or contributions to how we can apply lean principles to the construction process in UK, given the the structure and system that we are operating in (please see the attached report on a recent visit to Japan)

London 2012: Olympics a massive opportunity to learn how to set targets

Long-time friend of the blog, Andrew Kinsey, Senior Sustainability Manager at the Athletes Village for Bovis Lend Lease, kindly invited myself and a few colleagues to have a nosey around the Athlete’s Village back at the beginning of November. We had fantastic luck with the weather as you can see from the picture, which is a view [...]

Housekeeping

So I’m almost totally moved into the new pad in London and can’t quite believe I won’t be trekking up to Leeds every weekend any more. The upside is that all my books, files and clothes are now in one place, if not yet quite organised. In the spirit of spring cleaning which moving house always [...]
