Most of the techniques for achieving a low energy building are well documented but in practice the standards aimed for are often not achieved through lack of understanding about what makes a highly insulated, airtight, energy efficient building. Thi…

Afraid it looks like we may not be able to stream this event due to wi-fi problems. There will, no doubt, be plenty of twittering going on and we have the hashtag #AECNetwork if anyone would like to follow what is happening.

John,
You should not apologize for filtering new members. AEC is one of the cleanest sites around, a fact I am sure its' membership appreciates. Keeping it that way is equally appreciated by all, I am sure. Unfortunately, it creates an additional burden for you and the others.
Thanks for your efforts!

Excellent picture you've taken and have on flickr, of St Pancras Station. It is a very photogenic subject with the lighting interacting with the various materials, their colurs and textures - brickwork, steel and glass etc... The building interior comes alive in photographs.

Meeting in London on Monday? Yes. I have a pretty clear day so can hopefully fit in with you (but I need to be home, SE London, by 5.30 to collect my kids from after-school club),

I would welcome any comments or contributions to how we can apply lean principles to the construction process in UK, given the the structure and system that we are operating in (please see the attached report on a recent visit to Japan)

London 2012: Olympics a massive opportunity to learn how to set targets

Long-time friend of the blog, Andrew Kinsey, Senior Sustainability Manager at the Athletes Village for Bovis Lend Lease, kindly invited myself and a few colleagues to have a nosey around the Athlete’s Village back at the beginning of November. We had fantastic luck with the weather as you can see from the picture, which is a view [...]

Housekeeping

So I’m almost totally moved into the new pad in London and can’t quite believe I won’t be trekking up to Leeds every weekend any more. The upside is that all my books, files and clothes are now in one place, if not yet quite organised. In the spirit of spring cleaning which moving house always [...]
