Event Description

Are you:

• Concerned about how your business can survive in the current economic downturn?
• Realising that there is potential work in the domestic refurbishment sector now that people cannot afford to move home?
• Wanting to meet a growing demand from clients for eco-refurbishment advice and services but currently lack the information and know-how?

87% of the homes that will be standing in 2050 are already built (DCLG), which is why government, industry and home owners are all looking into the benefits of refurbishing the existing housing stock. More and more home owners are staying put in these challenging economic times but want to extend or refurbish their homes to accommodate an expanding family, build a home office or improve the environmental performance of their house. Architects, surveyors and engineers are realising that there is a real demand for advice and services on renovating houses using sustainable principles but are not sure where to go to gain the knowledge required to undertake these challenging new projects.

The Green Register, in association with RIBA Wessex/SW, are running the first of a series of training courses designed to provide all the information construction professionals will need to be able to advise their clients on sustainable refurbishment of their homes. Participants will be registered on The Green Register’s website under a new ‘Accredited Refurbisher’ listing, designed to easily identify them to new clients.

Some recent TV programmes on ‘green make-overs' might lead viewers to think that eco-refurbishments are all about adding solar panels and recycling bins but this training course will explain that it is a more complex process which look s at the entire house and how it can be holistically improved. TGR has put together this comprehensive course which covers the following essential topics:

• Co-ordinating existing planned works with potential green upgrades
• Harmonising Conversation and sustainable issues
• Different solutions for different house types
• Technical issues such as heating, water, lighting and insulation
• Integrating renewable energy technologies
• Energy performance certificates and SAP rating calculations
• Forum for the Future’s Refit West project
• Case Study of a 1930’s house in the Bristol area

Members - £140.00
Non-Members - £170.00

MgO boards bonded with vinyl membranes

Dear All, Our factory makes MgO board based lamination products. We can glue membranes or acrylic sheets to MgO boards to make them into high quality decorative boards. They are better than HDF and MDF laminations as MgO boards are fire resistent and work well in water. If you are interested, please feel free to contact me. Best regards, Sam See More
